About
I am a Senior Research Fellow at the Chair of Comparative Political Sciences and Political Systems of Eastern Europe, Department of Social Sciences, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU Berlin). Prior to this, I held positions at Technische Universität Dresden, King’s College London (KCL), Uppsala University, and the Hanse Institute for Advanced Study. At KCL, I served as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow and Principal Investigator on a project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 MSCA programme.

.
My research spans two core programs. The first lies at the intersection of European Studies, and Comparative Politics, focusing on the EU’s external governance, democracy and autocracy, democratic theory, and regime states and dynamics in the EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood. The second sits at the crossroads of International Relations (IR), and behavioral economics, drawing on prospect theory to analyze competing regional integration processes in Europe and Eurasia.
I have also contributed to the design of the conceptual and computational architecture of a new cross-national, longitudinal dataset developed at HU Berlin that captures de jure safeguards of judicial autonomy in Europe.
I hold a PhD in Political Science from HU Berlin (2014) and am the author of Regime Dynamics in the EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood: EU Democracy Promotion, International Influences, and Domestic Contexts (2017, New York: Palgrave Macmillan).
